Probably pointless to say it at this point, but this was a good episode.

Exhaust is NOT on the same side as the dipstick, btw.

I pulled up next to one on the freeway, all "raced" out (giant wing, body kit, giant exhaust, etc etc). I heard him get on it and it was LOUD...

Sounded horrible, and he didn't even go any where. I can imagine it was like a bad porn with no cum shot at the end. Just awful.

I JUST LEARNED THIS THE OTHER DAY. Asked a buddy why the dipstick was wedged between the intake manifold, asked if would get too hot and melt the plastic.

He gently informed me that if the INTAKE was hot, my engine was going to have other problems.

OK review, but it's easy to replace piston rings? You don't say! And there are clutches which use something else besides brake fluid? Well actually there are I suppose, I remember my Beetle's clutch operated by way of a cable, which rusted out and broke one day of course, whereupon I learned how to shift gears grindlessly without benefit of the clutch.

The beauty of a manual: even when it isn't working, it's working. You just have to not suck at driving.

It's easier to replace piston rings than apex seals.

Piston rings:
Pull the head.
Drop the oil pan and disconnect the connecting rods.
Push the pistons out the top.
Hone the cylinders.
Install new rings.
Reconnect the piston/connecting rod to the crankshaft.
Replace the oil pan and head.
If compression cannot be restored, remove the block and bore the cylinders.

Apex seals:
Remove the entire engine.
Try to hone the rotor housing.
Replace the apex seals.
Reassemble and reinstall the engine.
Hope to get half the life of the original engine.
If compression cannot be restored, replace the entire rotor housing. Note that rotor housings must be replaced after the initial rebuild.

As much as I bash the rotary engine for being unreliable, inefficient, etc. It is great for as little engineering effort as has gone into it.

No, but burning hot fluid lines run right next to it. So while he technically made a mistake about a car he drove for a few minutes and did a few minutes of internet research, the point he was trying to get across is still true.

The S2 (2009-2011) fixed this oversight, btw.
